NOTE: THE FIRST OPTION IS BEST AS LATER AND EVENING ARRIVALS ARE VERY DISRUPTIVE. IF THIS OPTION IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT.
- It is possible to catch the 12:08 train to Ballarat, take bus to Daylesford arriving at 2:45. I then need to collect you from Daylesford.
- The third option is to catch the 17:00 train from Southern Cross to Bendigo, get off at Woodend @ 18:05, for the 18:10 bus to Daylesford. Ask the driver to drop you off at Dolphins Road, Musk. If travelling from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport, there are several options.
- Catch bus into Southern Cross Station & catch the relevant train from there.
- Book a seat on Bendigo Airport bus (03) 5439 4044 (leaves 8:30; 11:00; 13:30; & 18:00 arriving at Woodend 9:15; 11:45; 14:15 & 18:45). However the bus to Daylesford leaves 9:05 and 18:10. These options give you a fair wait in Woodend, but it is a lovely little town in which you can spend some time. The library has free internet.
- The airport shuttle bus to Ballarat can also drop you off at Ballan, but you need to ring (03) 5333 4181 to check the timetable. The train & bus station at Ballarat is very close to the old part of the city & worth spending a few hours exploring while waiting to catch a connecting bus to Daylesford.
When planning to leave the farm, there are 2 buses passing Dolphins Road each day; one at around 7:40 am, getting you to Woodend at 8:20 am to connect with either a train to Melbourne or further north along the Bendigo line; or the 17:10 bus from Daylesford passes Dolphins Road around 17:15, getting you to Woodend at 17:55.
Many of our WWOOFers have found hitching a ride into & out of Daylesford very easy as our neighbours enjoy picking them up & having a chat. Or the 8 km walk along the disused railway line is another option for getting one around.
We also have a couple of bikes.
For connections further afield: www.railmap.com.au is recommended as a better site for planning your journey (including buses) than V Line. Best to double check the above info before making a booking.
